About me

Guatemalan scientist specializing in geomatics, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation applied to rural and forestry development. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Geomatics Engineering applied to the forestry sector, holds a Master of Science in Digital Transformation in the agri-food and forestry sector, and a Master of Science in Strategies for Rural and Territorial Development from the University of Córdoba, Spain. An Agricultural Engineer by training, he has combined for more than 15 years applied research, international consulting, and higher education teaching across Latin America and Europe.

He has solid teaching experience at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, the University of Córdoba (Spain), as visiting professor at the University of Caldas in Manizales (Colombia), guest professor at the Federal University of Campina Grande in Paraíba (Brazil), visiting professor at the Agrarian University of Ecuador, guest professor at the Technical University of Manabí, guest professor at ECOTEC Technological University, and contracted professor for the Polytechnic University of Madrid in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries, and Food of Spain.

His areas of expertise include Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, photogrammetry, photo-interpretation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), watershed management, applied informatics, big data, artificial intelligence, mathematics, physics, smart technologies, and hydrology. He has more than 15 years of experience in GIS, remote sensing, geostatistics, smart technologies, hydrology, and multivariate statistics applied to agricultural, forestry, and food sciences.

He is proficient in JavaScript, Python, RStudio, HTML5, SQL, Google Earth Engine, Google Colab, Google Data Studio, Node-RED, InfoStat, SAS, SPSS, ArcGIS, QGIS, among others. He has participated in advanced specialization courses in Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Egypt, Panama, and Bolivia, and has been a speaker in international conferences held in Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Egypt, Bolivia, Honduras, and Spain.
