Ms Otsile Phalatsi

Otsile Phalatsi is a STEM educator, entrepreneur, robotics advocate, and aspiring data analyst from Lesotho. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry from the National University of Lesotho, where her undergraduate research focused on the physicochemical analysis of underground water across the four ecological regions of Lesotho, strengthening her expertise in environmental science and water quality assessment.

Driven by a passion for expanding access to quality STEM education, Otsile founded HerSTEM Academy, an initiative dedicated to empowering young people—particularly girls and young women—to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through mentorship, tutoring, and innovative learning opportunities, she works to nurture the next generation of scientists, engineers, and technology leaders.

Otsile has been actively involved in the robotics ecosystem since 2019, contributing to robotics education, innovation, and STEM outreach through volunteer leadership. Her work has focused on introducing learners to emerging technologies and creating opportunities for young people to develop practical problem-solving and engineering skills. She has also served as the Lesotho Hub Coordinator for Young AI Leaders, where she leads initiatives that promote responsible artificial intelligence, youth leadership, and collaboration within the growing AI community. Her involvement with the AI for Good movement reflects her commitment to leveraging technology to address societal and environmental challenges while ensuring that innovation benefits communities.

Alongside her work in education and technology, Otsile is building expertise in data analytics, combining her scientific background with analytical and digital skills to strengthen evidence-based decision-making. Her interests lie at the intersection of environmental science, water quality, artificial intelligence, and data-driven solutions for sustainable development.

Throughout her academic and professional journey, Otsile has remained committed to advancing STEM education, fostering innovation, and creating pathways for greater participation of women and girls in science and technology. Her work continues to inspire young people to embrace curiosity, innovation, and lifelong learning while contributing to a more inclusive and technologically empowered future.
