About me
Dr. Rahiel Hagos Abraha is an Ethiopian woman instructor and researcher. She earned her BSc degree in the field of Horticulture from Jimma University in 2008 and MSc degree in Plant Breeding from Haramaya University in 2012. She has been worked in Mizan-Tepi University since September 2009 till August 2014. Then after she shifted here workplace to Mekelle University since September 2014 as lecturer, researcher and other consultancy services. Beside to this, she has been taken valuable short course training in Netherlands and other international conferences such as, in International TYAN/TWAS conference which was held in Rio die Jenerio, Brazil in 2017 and gender summit14 in Rwanda, Kigali. Rahiel got her PhD degree from Graduate School of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences (GSCAAS), Institute of Vegetables and Flowers (IVF), in 2023 with partial support of OWSD. In addition, she joined as a postdoctoral researcher at the Makerere University Regional Center for Crop Improvement on Feb 1st, 2024, under the program of advancing legume crops through genomic research for better sustainable livelihood, and sponsored by the RUFORUM (granted from the Carnegie Corporation of New York). Now she engages her work responsibilities at Makerere University as one of the resilient and societal problem-solving women researchers. She is interested in horticultural (esp., African leafy vegetables) crop production and nutrition security activities and makes an impact in the next generation for better sustainable livelihood through cutting-edge technologies.
