About me
Sheryl has nine years of experience spanning qualitative research, project management, teaching, clinical care, health administration, and cross-functional team leadership across both high-income and low- and middle-income country contexts. She holds an MSc in Public Health from Lund University (Sweden), a BSc in Nursing from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Pedagogy in Higher Education from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán (Honduras), grounding her work at the intersection of clinical practice, public health, education, and health policy. She has also completed advanced training in project management, quality improvement in healthcare settings, and coordination of clinical research and drug trials.
Her professional experience includes emergency care, health system coordination within the Ministry of Health of Honduras during the COVID-19 pandemic, and policy-oriented research with a Swedish think tank, where she contributed feasible, evidence-based recommendations on health systems performance, governance, sustainability, and health equity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Her research spans qualitative studies on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and health equity, loneliness among ageing populations, and palliative care, with her master’s research contributing to positive national-level policy developments in Honduras. She speaks Spanish, English, and Swedish, and is a strong advocate for healthy and proactive ageing, high quality end-of-life care, health equity, and intersectoral collaboration.
Sheryl is currently collaborating with the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH), Atlántida Campus, formerly known as UNAH (Centro Universitario Regional del Litoral Atlántico)-CURLA, as a Consultant Researcher on projects across diverse topics using qualitative research designs.
In her spare time, she enjoys painting, fishing, playing golf and tennis, and dancing salsa.
