About me
Im a colombian, married woman. Math teachear at Universidad Industrial de Santander. My resarch interest is Differential Geometry
Sofía Pinzón Durán holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education, both from the Universidad Industrial de Santander. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the State University of Campinas (Brazil). She has been a professor at the Universidad Industrial de Santander since 1993 and has held several academic and administrative positions, including Director of the School of Mathematics, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Coordinator of Graduate Studies at the School of Mathematics, and, since 2016, General Secretary of the UIS.
She is married and has two children — a 23-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter. She has published several articles based on the results of her doctoral research, has led research projects, and has supervised undergraduate and master’s students. She greatly enjoys teaching, although she has, in various ways, found herself taking on academic leadership roles. Since 2023, she has served as President of the Colombian Mathematical Society.
