Experience
She is among the few expertise in the field of ultrastructural pathology in North Africa. She has 30 years’ experience in the histopathological and ultrastructural diagnosis and research of the liver and kidney diseases.
Experience in the application and use of immunoelectron labeling and immunohistochemical techniques for diagnosis and research purposes.
Experience in the research study of hepatic schistosomiasis, liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, viral hepatitis, fatty liver and hepatocellular carcinoma.
Experience in the research study of urinary tract diseases specially the kidney and bladder cancer.
Experience in the study of ultrastructural organ changes secondary to drug toxicity and the research of drug evaluation.

Research interest
Her research interest includes two important health threating diseases in Egypt , hepatitis virus and parasitic diseases specially Schistosomiasis and their complications hepatic fibrosis, cirrhosis, fatty liver , hepatocellular carcinoma and bladder carcinoma. Schistosomiasis is considered one of the neglected tropical diseases of poverty. It is the third leading endemic parasitic disease in the world. Also, Africa has the highest WHO estimated regional HCV prevalence and Egypt had the highest prevalence of HCV in the world.

Academic Acheivements
She was the head of Electron microscopy research department at Theodor Bilharz Research Institute- Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, during the period 1994- 2006 and former deputy of Clinical Laboratories research Division 2006-2013. Currently she is President of TBRI staff Association which she is the founder, President of the Egyptian Society of Electron Microscopy which is the founder, Member of the Electron Microscopy Research Department Counsel , Referee for the TBRI Promotion Committee and the Middle East and North Africa Councilor member of the Society for Ultrastructural Pathology for the period 2022-2024 then 2024-2026.

 She headed the EM department for 14 years during which she improved its Equipment and technical standard.
She succeeded to get two grants from the American sector of the Egyptian Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation in 1999 and in 2005 to renovate and upgrade the EM department to be today one of the specialized departments which provides consultation and assistance to many researchers from Egypt and African countries (Libya, Sudan and Nigeria) besides scientific institutions from Egypt itself (Ain Shams University, Zewail City of Science and Technology, Tanta university, Al-Azhar University, Cairo University, National Research centre, Zagazig University, Banyswaf University).

• She worked hard to build capacity and increase skill of the TBRI Electron Microscopy Research Department junior staff and technicians through:
-implementation of agreements with many European Scientific Institutions: She was the coordinator of students exchange program in the frame of the agreement that she implemented between the Private Universitat Witten/ Herdecke Germany and Theodor Bilharz Research Institute in (2007-2009). It furnishes a clinical and research experience program for students enrolled in the Witten University and postgraduate medical students working at TBRI. Another agreement between the TBRI’s Electron Microscopy Research Department and The Laboratory of Electron Microscopy, Mossakowski Medical Research Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences (2013-2017), which furnished a laboratory and research experience programs for post graduate students and Technicians enrolled at the TBRI EM Dept. She signed a memorandum of understanding between TBRI’s Electron Microscopy Research Department and Department of Electron Microscopy Molecular Pathology , The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics which provides opportunities for further training of postgraduate students as well as laboratory scientific officers and technologists and implementation of combined research projects.

-The organization of training courses: she organized biannual training courses about the uses of Electron microscopy in research and diagnosis at TBRI Electron Microscopy Research Department during the period 1990- 2006 and participating as a lecturer during this mentioned period. Then, she participates as speaker in most of the organized training courses and workshops organized by the EM depart. To date.

- Implementation of combined channel system supervision of M.Sc. and M.D. Theses: She carried out combined channel system supervision with Prof.Dr. Stephan Stoerkel the head of Pathology department Helios Klinikum- Wuppertal Germany affiliated to the Private Universitat Witten/ Herdecke for the accomplishment of M.Sc. thesis of EM candidate concerning cancer bladder. Implementation of combined channel system supervision of two M.Sc. Theses in the field of Pathology- Electron Microscopy with Prof. Dr. Waldemar Olszewski Prof. of Surgery At Mossakowski Medical Research Center, Department of Surgical Research& Transplantology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland in 2011.These theses have as titles: Ultrastructural study of the vitality of hepatocytes in cultural media. / Ultrastructural study of the effect of cultural media on the cultured hepatocytes. Another MD Combined channel supervision with Prof.Martin Yarmush Director of the Center for engineering in Medicine department of surgery Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in 2015 on the subject of Ultrastructural Morphological Study of In-Vitro 3D Cultured Hepatocytes in Experimental Animals.

-Society foundation

• She founded the Association of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute Staff in 2015 to be a non-governmental organization which represents an outlet for social and cultural communication between its members, sponsoring their rights and to assist in the environment and community development
• She founded the Egyptian Society of Electron Microscopy in 2019. is a non-governmental non-profit society. The goals of the ESEM are the enhancement of scientific exchange and networking between the electron microscopy working specialists in Egypt. Encouraging the organization of scientific conferences, meetings, training courses and workshops. She organized three international conference 2020 and 2022 in the frame of this society.

 Theses Supervision
She supervised 26 M.Sc., Ph.D or MD theses in the field of Pathology and electron microscopy in cooperation with Cairo, Ein Shams, ElAzhar universities, Helios Klinikum- Wuppertal Germany, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland and Harvard Medical School, USA.

 Projects

She was principal investigator of 7 accomplished projects financially supported by TBRI , The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Science and Technology development fund (STDF).
These projects tackled the evaluation of some medicine on hepatic fibrosis and Schistosoma mansoni granuloma including Somatostatin, Propranolol ,Pentoxifylline and anti-TGFβ. Laboratory protocol for the investigation of urinary bladder carcinoma on top of schistosomiasis- Role of Hepatic stellate cells, myofibroblast and fibroblast in hepatic fibrosis on top of hepatitis C Virus infection. Mitochondrial Changes in Relation to Carbamoyl Phosphate Synthetase 1 in Different Stages of Hepatitis C Virus Infection.
Ultrastrutural and immunohistochemical study of hepatocytes and hepatic progenitor cells in patients with chronic hepatitis C virus infection and hepatocellular carcinoma.

These projects tackled Immunohistopathological and immunoelectron microscopic study of urinary bladder schistosomiasis and hepatic schistosomal grauloma. As well hepatocytes transplantation in decompensated liver.

She participated as task leader in eight projects financially supported by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology(ASRT) – Theodor Bilharz Research Institute(TBRI)- The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) - the European Union (EU) with EU contribution EUR 500 658,35- STDF project ID : 34873 Development technology grant call.
These projects Tackled important health problem overexpressed in many African countries which is Hepatic fibrosis secondary to hepatic schistosomiasis, Assessement of antifibrotic drug, the effect of repeated infection with S. mansoni and repeated treatment with praziquantel, Value of colchicine with or without praziquantel therapy in control of hepatic fibrosis in murine schistosomiasis, Stem cell therapy in hepatic disease, and Theodor Bilharz into the European Research Area (THEBERA) financially granted by the EU. .
A promising phosphatidylcholine-pirfenidone complex for the treatment of liver fibrosis.

 She Published 78 scientific manuscripts in peer reviewed journal among them 30 Scopus indexed and one reported an innovated technique for the simultaneous processing of cells in suspension for light and electron microscopic examination which open new prospect for cytopathology and early detection of malignant lesions, and 56 focusing on the study of the pathogenesis of hepatic schistosomiasis and hepatitis C virus, and their complications which represent important health problems in Egypt and many other African countries.
