About me

Dr. Sonia Malik is currently serving as Professor at Baba Farid Group of Institutions, Bathinda, India. She obtained her Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology from the CSIR–Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology, India. Her research is focused on the biotechnological production and sustainable enhancement of plant specialized metabolites using in vitro culture systems. She has authored more than 65 research publications and edited scholarly books in the field of plant biotechnology and natural products. Dr. Malik has held several international research and teaching positions in Brazil, Australia, the Czech Republic, and France. She is an active member of various professional scientific societies and, in recognition of her significant contributions to Plant Biotechnology, she was conferred the Fellow Award by the Society for Plant Research in 2025. She has also been elected as a fellow of Royal Society of Biology in 2026

An interdisciplinary plant scientist with expertise in biotechnology, metabolic engineering, and controlled-environment agriculture. My research integrates plant physiology and advanced biotechnological approaches to enhance crop resilience and sustainable production systems, with a particular focus on plant-derived natural compounds for applications in pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, and agriculture.
