About me

Suhad Yasin is a Ph.D. researcher and faculty member in the Chemistry Department at the University of Duhok, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. She is the founder of the first ACS International Student Chapter in Iraq and has played a leading role in promoting scientific education, gender equity, and international collaboration. She is actively involved with IUPAC and the Global Women’s Breakfast initiative and is a co-chair of the OWSD Iraq Chapter.

Suhad Yasin is a distinguished Ph.D. researcher and academic staff member in the Chemistry Department, College of Science, at the University of Duhok, Kurdistan Region, Iraq.

Dr. Yasin is the founder of the first American Chemical Society (ACS) International Student Chapter in Iraq, a milestone that has opened new opportunities for Iraqi students to engage with the global scientific community. Under her leadership, the University of Duhok ACS International Student Chapter has received multiple international awards, reflecting its active contribution to scientific outreach, student development, and community engagement.

Her research interests focus on nanomaterials and advanced materials, with particular emphasis on nanofibers and the applications of nanotechnology in areas such as environmental science. She has supervised student research projects, delivered scientific presentations, and contributed to academic activities that strengthen research culture at her institution.

Dr. Yasin has served as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the PEER Program, demonstrating her ability to lead funded research projects and manage international collaborations. She is actively involved with the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) and plays a key role in organizing the Global Women’s Breakfast initiative in Iraq, promoting gender equality and women’s participation in science. In addition, she serves as a co-chair of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) Iraq Chapter.

Beyond research and leadership, Dr. Yasin is a member of the editorial team of the Zanin Journal of Science and Engineering at the University of Duhok, contributing to the advancement of scientific publishing and academic quality. She is also recognized for her science communication efforts, including publishing articles that highlight the role of Iraqi institutions in international scientific organizations.
