About me

Dr. Tahmeena Javaid Adeel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Arts at Fatima Jinnah Women University, with a Ph.D. in Games from Bournemouth University, UK. My research focuses on the use of fantasy in serious games to assist physical rehabilitation, particularly for patients with back pain. A strong background in both academia and the creative arts, with experience in teaching, non-linear editing, and graphic design. My achievements include winning the HEC overseas scholarship and being recognized as a PGR Engagement Champion at Bournemouth University.

I am an academic and researcher with a diverse background in computer science, arts, and game design. I have a PhD in Games from Bournemouth University, UK, with my doctoral thesis titled "Use of Fantasy in Serious Games to Assist Physical Rehabilitation." I also hold an MS in Computer Science and a BCA (Hons.).
My professional experience is primarily at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), where I have served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Arts since August 2018. My roles at FJWU have also included being an In-Charge, Department Coordinator, and Assistant Program Coordinator. Earlier in my career, I worked as a teacher and as a Non-Linear Editor and Graphic Designer.
My research and publications explore the intersection of technology and creativity, with recent works on artificial intelligence in art education and VR-based exergames for physical rehabilitation. I have secured research grants from Bournemouth University for projects on scholarly writing and the use of AI.
I have been honoured with the HEC overseas scholarship and was titled "The Fierce Faculty" by Pakistani women in computing. I am also recognised as a PGR Engagement Champion and a PGR lead rep at Bournemouth University. My creative work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions, and I have curated events, provided design services, and organised many workshops and exhibitions at FJWU. I am a fellow of Advance HE UK and serve as a member of several university committees and boards of studies.
