Ms Winfrida Benedicto Lyoba

Winfrida Benedicto Lyoba is a Tanzanian scholar, nutrition professional, public health researcher, project development and management practitioner with over 14 years of experience in nutrition, public health, research, programme implementation, and monitoring and evaluation. She is currently an assistant lecturer at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Department of Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences. She also served as Nutrition Officer at Bukoba Municipal Council, Kagera Region, Tanzania, Program Officer, M&E and Gender Specialist at Swissaid Tanzania, Research assistant at Ifakara Health Institute, Research Supervisor at World Vision Tanzania. Currently, she is working as an assistant Lecturer at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Department of Human Nutrition and Consumer Sciences. Winfrida is pursuing PhD in Public Health at the University of Dodoma. She also holds Master of Public Health Research from the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in collaboration with the Ifakara Health Institute, Master of Project Management from the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) and BSc. in Human Nutrition Sokoine University of Agriculture.
Her research interests focus on maternal and child nutrition, adolescent, anaemia prevention and reduction, nutrition education, practical nutrition counselling, dietary improvement, food systems, climate resilience, and evidence-based public health interventions. She is particularly interested in designing, implementing, and evaluating context-specific interventions that address public health and nutrition challenges among vulnerable populations. With experience spanning research, programme management, community-based interventions, and monitoring and evaluation, Winfrida is committed to translating scientific evidence into practical solutions that inform policy, strengthen health systems, and improve population health outcomes. She is also interested in developing competitive research and grant proposals, building multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary partnerships, and mobilizing resources to support innovative, scalable, and sustainable interventions. She also won small grants from William and Flora Hewlett Foundation in 2024 through Economic and Social Research Foundation, Tanzania and she has published 2 articles and 1 has submitted to Springer Nature Company.
