Zalerapi is a Technology Transfer Officer at the Malawi University of Science and Technology. She has filed several patents for the university and has supported various capacity-building activities through her office. Additionally, she collaborates with the European Patent Office (EPO) and serves as the country focal point for PATLIB Network in Malawi. She is a certified German Sta-Africa Start Up and Patent Consultant.

As a technology transfer officer and university patenting specialist, she manages collaborations among the university, investors, and innovation financing for technology development, adoption, and commercialization. She works hand in hand with the European Patent Office (EPO) through KT2A to strengthen the TISC centre in Malawi, where she manages enrolment of candidates into the Intellectual Property Basics for Innovators (IPBI), a special course made to support IP awareness among innovators.
