The OWSD Application System for PhD Training Fellowships Is Now Online

You can now apply for the OWSD PhD Training Fellowships through our online application system.

Each year OWSD offers talented women scientists from developing countries the opportunity to study for a PhD in a science subject at an excellent research institute in a developing country.
Candidates can choose between the full-time option (up to 4 years) at a host institute (not in their home country), or the sandwich (part-time) option which allows them to enrol for a PhD in their home country and undertake a research visit of at least 6 months in a laboratory or institute abroad.

Funds are available for the period the student is at the host institute only. Costs covered can include travel to the host country, tuition fees, board, accommodation and living expenses.

Please note that the the following countries have been added to the list of eligible countries: Bolivia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Palestine (W Bank & Gaza), Papua N Guinea, Paraguay, Sri Lanka, Syrian Arab Rep,  Tajikistan.

Please note that as from 2017, the OWSD PhD Fellowships applications will be accepted through an online system only.

IMPORTANT: Candidates must submit a preliminary acceptance letter from at least one host institute and a letter of commitment from the prospective host supervisor.
