The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), South East Zone, is pleased to announce its 5th Biennial Conference, scheduled to hold from 3rd to 7th May, 2026 at the Senate Chamber, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Nigeria. This prestigious conference is organized under the theme: “Women in Science: Translating Research into Real Impact for Sustainable Development.” The event serves as a major platform for women scientists, researchers, innovators, educators, students, development partners, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions on how scientific research can be transformed into practical solutions that address societal challenges and advance sustainable development goals (SDGs). The conference will feature keynote addresses, technical paper presentations, panel discussions, workshops, networking sessions, and an Annual General Meeting (AGM). Participants will explore critical sub-themes such as climate action and food security, applied research and ethics, science communication, biotechnology innovation, artificial intelligence for sustainability, entrepreneurship, inclusion, and social impact. The OWSD Biennial Conference is designed to strengthen collaboration among women in STEM, encourage mentorship, promote impactful research translation, and inspire innovative approaches to national and global development challenges. Researchers and students are invited to submit abstracts (250–300 words) for oral or poster presentations. The conference also provides opportunities for capacity building, visibility, and partnership development across academia, industry, and policy spaces.
