The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Ekiti State University (EKSU) Branch, successfully held its first physical programme on 24 February 2026, bringing together staff and students for an impactful health awareness and medical outreach event. The programme, titled "Navigating the Transitions: Optimising Women's Health and Productivity Across Pre-Menopause, Menopause, and Post-Menopause," was designed to increase awareness of women's health issues and promote healthy living across the different stages of a woman's life.

The talk show featured informative discussions on the physical, emotional, and psychological changes associated with pre-menopause, menopause, and post-menopause. Participants gained practical knowledge on managing these transitions, maintaining good health, and sustaining productivity in both their personal and professional lives. The programme also encouraged open conversations about women's health, helping to dispel misconceptions and reduce the stigma often associated with menopause.

A major highlight of the event was the conferment of the Life Patron title on the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, in recognition of his support for the activities and objectives of the OWSD EKSU Branch.

As part of the outreach, participants benefited from a range of free medical services, including fasting blood glucose screening, hepatitis B and C testing, urinalysis, malaria testing, and consultations with qualified medical doctors. These services provided attendees with valuable insights into their health status and emphasized the importance of regular health screening and early detection.

The programme recorded an impressive turnout of university staff and students, who described the initiative as both timely and highly relevant. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to receive expert health advice and free medical services in a supportive environment.

Overall, the event reaffirmed the commitment of the OWSD EKSU Branch to promoting the health, well-being, and productivity of women through education, advocacy, and community engagement. By addressing important women's health issues and providing access to preventive healthcare services, the programme contributed meaningfully to improving awareness and empowering women to make informed health decisions.
