The OWSD FUTA Branch joined the global celebration of the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, themed “I am a Girl in Science.” The event aimed to encourage young girls to embrace careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Participants were invited to send a 1-minute video highlighting their career aspirations in STEM, their motivations, and how they intend to contribute to scientific advancement. The videos will be showcased on Monday, 13th October 2025, creating an inspiring platform for girls to express their passion for science. The initiative emphasized mentorship, visibility, and empowerment of girls in STEM fields. It was coordinated by Dr. (Mrs.) M. L. Adeleke, OWSD FUTA Branch Coordinator, with support from OWSD-FUTA members. The event reinforces OWSD’s commitment to advancing women’s participation in science through advocacy, mentorship, and education.
