About me
Aura L. López de Ramos is a Chemical Engineer with a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, as well as graduate training in Higher Education Teaching. She is a staff researcher at CIEDU AIP, where she served as Director of Research from 2024 to 2026. Her work focuses on educational research, quality in higher education, digital maturity, digital literacy, generative artificial intelligence in education, and ICT use in academic contexts.
She has more than 100 publications, over 1,000 citations, and an h-index of 14 in Google Scholar. She has held academic and research leadership positions in Panama and Venezuela, including Academic Vice-Rector of UNICyT and elected Academic Vice-Rector of Simón Bolívar University. Her career integrates scientific rigor, university management, research leadership, and emerging technologies to advance ethical, inclusive, and innovative higher education.

She has a solid career as a university professor in research methodology, quality in higher education, educational technology projects, and introduction to generative AI and its educational applications.
She is a recognized researcher, with more than 100 publications, including scientific articles, books, book chapters, and peer-reviewed conference proceedings, as well as an h-index of 14 on Google Scholar and more than 1,000 citations. She has recently published works on the evaluation of scientific abstracts using generative artificial intelligence, digital literacy, the gender gap, social media dependence, university accreditation, and digital education for equity.
She has held academic and scientific leadership roles in Panama, including academic coordination and research leadership at CIEDU AIP, the Academic Vice-Rectorate of UNICyT, participation in educational and scientific research networks, the Research Commission of the Council of Rectors of Panama, APANAC, APIE, REDIA, RICIE, and RISEI. She has also organized congresses, scientific meetings, and national and international academic updating events, with an emphasis on educational research, research culture, creativity, innovation, quality, and artificial intelligence.
Her previous career includes a distinguished trajectory at Simón Bolívar University in Venezuela, where she was a Full Professor, Director of the Laboratory Unit, and elected Academic Vice-Rector. She led processes of academic planning, institutional reorganization, development of undergraduate and graduate programs, promotion of distance education, and formulation of university policies. She was the first woman at that university to hold academic-administrative positions such as Director of the Laboratory Unit and Academic Vice-Rector.
She integrates rigorous scientific training, experience in university management, leadership in research, and mastery of emerging technologies to contribute to the strengthening of higher education, educational research, academic quality, and innovation with an ethical, inclusive, and strategic approach.
