Catherine Joke Adeseko** is a Nigerian academic, researcher, and biochemist who works as a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). She has built an academic career centered on applied biochemistry, biotechnology, and molecular biology.Adeseko completed her Bachelor of Applied Science degree at Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University) between 1993 and 1998. Committed to educational development, she obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Obafemi Awolowo University in 2006. She later pursued advanced studies at FUTA, earning her Master’s degree in Biochemistry in 2014 and completing her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 2020.Her specialized research areas include enzyme technology, proteomics, genomics, and biotechnology. Dr. Adeseko is particularly recognized for her work on the purification and biochemical characterization of polyphenol oxidase enzymes, notably analyzing agricultural products like melon seeds and African bush mango to prevent enzyme-induced browning. She has also published scientific papers on pomelo nutritional status, phytochemical constituents, and specialized enzyme isolation from fungi.Through her work in the FUTA Department of Biochemistry, she continues to advance biochemical science, mentor students, and contribute to African biotechnology and agricultural research.
