About me

Dharma Aryani, Ph.D., is an Indonesian academic serving as a lecturer and Head of Department at the School of Electrical Engineering at Politeknik Negeri Ujung Pandang and the Head of the Center of Electronics and Intelligence System (CEISRI) Research Center, with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from RMIT University and a Master’s from Universitas Indonesia, her expertise is in Control Engineering, Predictive system, Machine learning, and energy optimization.

Dharma Aryani, Ph.D., is a lecturer at the State Polytechnic of Ujung Pandang (PNUP) in Makassar, Indonesia. Her career spans over two decades, marked by technical excellence, institutional leadership, and significant contributions to national engineering accreditation and research strategy. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from RMIT University, Australia (2013-2017), supported by the Australia Awards Scholarship. Her doctoral research focused on system identification and advanced control methodologies, particularly Model Predictive Control (MPC), applied to the dynamic resource management of virtualized software systems. Prior to her doctoral work, she attained a Master of Engineering in Control Engineering from Universitas Indonesia (2007-2009) and a Bachelor of Engineering from Universitas Hasanuddin
Her technical proficiency is comprehensive, covering core expertise in Control Theory, Model Predictive Control (MPC), Machine Learning, and Energy Optimization. This technical depth is validated by her certification as a Certified Big Data Professional, Data Analytics and her command of specialized programming tools such as Python, Matlab, and Simulink. Early in her career, she gained valuable industrial experience as a Project Engineer at Bukaka SingTel International (2000-2002), providing a practical foundation for her later academic and policy work.
Dr. Aryani has taken on key administrative roles at the State Polytechnic of Ujung Pandang, shaping both the research output and quality standards of the institution. She has served as a Lecturer for Control Engineering and AI subjects since 2003. Her administrative trajectory includes leading the Control System Laboratorium (2018-2019), the Quality Assurance Center (2020-2022), and assigned as the Head of Department of Electrical Engineering Department PNUP. Since 2023, she has served as the Head of the Research Center, leading the Center of Electronics and Intelligence System (CEISRI), where she directs applied research in Control and intelligent systems.
Her research is characterized by its focus to sustainability goals.
* Renewable Energy Optimization: She led the development of SolarMF, an application for Renewable Energy forecasting and planning, in collaboration with PT PLN Nusantara Power. Her ongoing research leverages MPC for Solar Irradiance Forecasting, investigates the Integration of Photovoltaic Systems into Electric Vehicle Battery Charging Stations, and Active protection optimization for EV charging.
* Dr. Aryani pioneered projects for Continuous Monitoring System for Water Quality Assessment of River bodies, funded by the Australia Awards Alumni Grant Scheme and collaborating with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. She is also working on Real Time Monitoring of Air Quality , and Carbon emission monitoring system.
* Her expertise has been sought globally, demonstrated by her role as a Lead Collaborator for a United Nations, Global Pulse Research Dive , where she applied Big Data Analytics to infer energy consumption for urban development planning.
- Her commitment to continuous professional development is highlighted by her participation in the Microsoft AI TEACH ASEAN Train the Trainer Program, the AUS4ASEAN Short Course on Digital Readiness and Resilience, power system applied, and training in AI and Robotics at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Canada. She is also scheduled to be a keynote speaker for a Women in STEM Seminar organized by the British Council and the University of Portsmouth.
