About me

Doğanay Yıldırım is a research assistant in the Department of Maritime Business Administration at Samsun University, Türkiye, and a PhD student in Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University. Her research focuses on maritime transportation, port management, international trade, shipping economics, maritime sustainability, and the effects of global crises and environmental regulations on ports and shipping.

Doğanay Yıldırım is a research assistant in the Department of Maritime Business Administration at Samsun University, Türkiye, and a PhD student in Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering at Karadeniz Technical University. She has an interdisciplinary academic background in public finance, maritime transportation, international trade, and transport economics. As part of the Erasmus+ programme, she studied for one semester at Batumi State Maritime Academy in Georgia, gaining international academic experience in the maritime field.

Her research interests include maritime transportation, port management, shipping economics, international trade, maritime sustainability, and supply-chain resilience. Her doctoral research examines the cost and competitiveness effects of the European Union Emissions Trading System on maritime transportation. She also conducts empirical research on port activity and the impacts of global disruptions, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia–Ukraine war, and the Red Sea crisis, on maritime trade and transportation networks.

She is currently undertaking an international research internship at the World Maritime University in Malmö, Sweden, where she focuses on maritime sustainability, shipping decarbonization, and international research collaboration. She has also gained practical experience through volunteer internships at Trabzon Port and İnce Shipping Group. Her academic work aims to contribute to the development of sustainable, resilient, and economically efficient maritime transportation and port systems.
