About me

I am an Agricultural Economist in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Nigeria. A researcher with over 10 years of undergraduate and graduate experience, proven expertise in agricultural marketing, resource economics, price analysis, economic policy and econometrics. and I am committed to building an adaptive, efficient and sustainable food system in Africa by contributing towards enhancing academic and institutional processes to facilitate gender- response governance.

Dr. Florence Nse-Nelson is a motivated Agricultural Economics lecturer. She is a dedicated researcher, academic mentor, and rural development advocate. Her passion is to help aspiring minds to flourish and thrive. What truly fuels her is the belief that empowering young girls in rural communities through education and agribusiness skills isn't just about alleviating poverty, but rather it's about cultivating future leaders. She actively champions initiatives, working with partners like the Ministry of Women Affairs and NGOs, to turn underserved girls into agents of change through knowledge and opportunity. Whether advising policymakers, nurturing young economists, or mentoring girls in rural communities, her mission is to bridge the gap between academic research and tangible, real-world impact – one solution, one student, one seed at a time.

Dr. Florence Nse-Nelson holds a B. Agric. degree in Agricultural Economics, a M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics with a specialization in Agricultural Marketing, and a Ph.D. also specializing in Agricultural Marketing at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Science Leadership Programme (N-SLP), a member of the Organization of Women in Science in the Developing World (OWSD), and a member of the Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN).
