About me
I am a recent Genetics and Bioengineering graduate from Yeditepe University with interests in molecular biotechnology, microbial systems, synthetic biology, and quantitative biology. I completed a research internship at the Institute of Molecular Biology, Academia Sinica, where I worked on experimental evolution of E. coli motility in soft-agar environments. My background includes molecular biology techniques, microbial and mammalian cell culture, microscopy, and Python-based modeling projects. I aim to develop as a wet-dry researcher combining experimental biology, data analysis, and technology-driven life science research.
I am a recent Genetics and Bioengineering graduate from Yeditepe University. My academic interests are centered on molecular biotechnology, microbial systems, synthetic biology, metabolic and evolutionary processes, and quantitative approaches to biology. During my undergraduate studies, I became interested in biological systems as dynamic systems that organize, adapt, and evolve over time.
I completed a research internship at the Institute of Molecular Biology, Academia Sinica in Taiwan, under the supervision of Dr. Keita Kamino. There, I worked on an experimental evolution project using E. coli motility in spatially structured soft-agar environments. My work included bacterial culture handling, soft agar plate preparation, sample injection, migration halo measurements, glycerol stock preparation, and longitudinal data collection across different conditions and replicates.
My laboratory background includes microbial and mammalian cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, light and fluorescence microscopy, cell viability assays, and basic experimental design. Alongside my wet-lab training, I have developed an interest in computational and theoretical biology through Python-based projects, including modeling redox reactions in prebiotic systems, finite-difference modeling of insulin transport, and a nonlinear dynamical model of persistence and chirality that received an honorable mention at the Hack-4-SAGES Origins of Life Hackathon at ETH Zurich.
I aim to develop as a wet-dry researcher who can move between experimental biology, quantitative analysis, and model-based thinking. I am especially interested in research environments where biological questions are explored through interdisciplinary tools, measurement, computation, and technology-driven life science research.
