About me
Clinical Biochemistry, Instituto de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Salud, Universidad Nacional de Asunción - Paraguay
I studied clinical biochemistry and I'm active researcher currently serving as the Head of the Microbiology Department at the Health Sciences Research Institute of the National University of Asunción (IICS-UNA). I have graduated as a clinical biochemist from the Faculty of Chemical Sciences at the National University of Asunción (FCQ-UNA) in 2011 and later earned a PhD in Biological Sciences from the Universidad de la República (UDELAR) in Uruguay (2022). My doctoral research focused on the molecular epidemiology of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Paraguayan children.
Since 2013, I'm involved in the implementation and management of research projects as a lead author and co-author. My professional experience spans both academia and clinical practice, including roles in laboratories and as postgraduate program coordinator at the National University of Asunción (UNA). I'm recognized as a Level I researcher by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), I had published numerous articles on antimicrobial resistance and genomic epidemiology. I was also served as the Young Ambassador to Paraguay for the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) (2020-2022) and as a member of the OWSD Paraguayan National Chapter and continues to mentor postgraduate and graduate students in biomedical sciences.
