Food Science and Technology (FST) basically is the application of branches of sciences (Biological, Chemistry and Engineering) to the Food Chain (from-Farm-to Fork). It deals with sorting/grading, processing, preservation, packaging and distribution of food and food production after harvest till the food reach final consumer (Post-harvest Technology).
There are five branches of FST which are Food Microbiology,
Food Chemistry & Biochemistry, Nutrition, Food Engineering & Processing and Sensory Evaluation.

It encompasses the integration of various scientific disciplines into food processing and preservation methods. FPVA extends the shelf life of food products, leading to a shelf-stable attractive and diversified food products acceptable to final consumer.
