About me
I am PhD in Animal Diversity from the Graduate Program in Biodiversity and Evolution (PPGBIOEVO) at the Federal University of Bahia (2021). She also holds a Master's degree in Animal Diversity (2013) from the same institution, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences (Teaching Degree, 2010).
Currently, I am Professor at the State University of Southwest Bahia, Jequié Campus, where I coordinate the Center for Studies in Biodiversity, Gender, and Intersectionalities (Anaya Group), the Laboratory of Animal Physiology and Environmental Metabolism (LAFAMA), and the Center for Nature Studies. Member of the Kunhã Asé Network of Women in Science, the Body for Education and Ethnic Relations (Odeere), and a collaborator at the Laboratory of Animal Physiology (LAFISA) at UFBA, the Laboratory of Biodiversity in the Anthropocene (BIODIVA), and the Study Group on Pedagogies, Racialities, Education, Ethnicity, and Gender (GEPREEG). Additionally, I am faculty member of the Graduate Program in Ethnic Relations and Contemporaneity (PPGREC) and the Graduate Program in Genetics, Biodiversity, and Conservation (PPGGBC).

I will be taking over the coordination of Odeere. I develop research and outreach projects, working in collaboration with traditional communities and focusing on ethnic relations, gender, as well as environmental issues. Last year, the Academic Center of Biology at UESB Jequié was elected under the name Helena Rachel in my honor
