Dr. Imaobong Nyambi Akpet is a Nigerian biochemist, researcher, and lecturer at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua. She holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Uyo, a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Calabar, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Open University of Nigeria. Her professional experience includes teaching, educational consultancy, and scientific research. Her research focuses on human health, medicinal plants, environmental protection, water purification, and the effects of chemical substances on living organisms. She has authored and co-authored several scientific publications and belongs to professional organisations, including the Nigerian Society for Experimental Biology (NISEB) and the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB). Her career reflects a commitment to scientific advancement, education, and societal development.

Dr. Imaobong Nyambi Akpet is a Nigerian biochemist, lecturer, researcher, and educator whose career reflects a strong commitment to scientific research, teaching, and the advancement of knowledge. With academic training spanning biochemistry and education, she brings together scientific understanding and a passion for helping others learn.

Dr. Akpet holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Calabar, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biochemistry, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry, both from the University of Uyo. She also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Open University of Nigeria, strengthening her professional preparation for teaching and educational practice.

Her professional career has progressed through teaching, educational consultancy, and academic research. She worked as a consultant with Teachers Training Portal Resources in Uyo from 2018 to 2022, contributing to the education sector before joining Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, in 2022 as a Lecturer III. In 2025, she advanced to the position of Lecturer II, where she continues to contribute to teaching and academic development.

As a researcher, Dr. Akpet has contributed to scientific studies addressing human health, medicinal plants, environmental protection, and the effects of chemical substances on living organisms. Her published work includes research on genetic variations in pregnant women, the biochemical properties of plant leaves, the effects of plant extracts on blood-related parameters, and the potential use of nanomaterials in water purification. She has also co-authored studies investigating the effects of combining mangiferin, a naturally occurring plant compound, with antimalarial medication in experimental animal models.

Her research further explores how natural substances and scientific approaches may contribute to understanding disease, improving environmental quality, and advancing biomedical knowledge. These interests demonstrate the practical relevance of biochemistry in everyday life, particularly in areas such as health, medicine, environmental management, and the study of natural products.

Beyond her academic qualifications and publications, Dr. Akpet maintains active links with the scientific community through membership of the Nigerian Society for Experimental Biology (NISEB), and the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB).

Dr. Akpet’s professional journey reflects the value of continuous learning and the importance of combining scientific knowledge with effective teaching. Her experience in higher education, educational consultancy, and scientific research positions her to contribute to the development of students, the growth of scientific knowledge, and the application of biochemistry to real-world challenges.

Overall, Dr. Imaobong Nyambi Akpet is a dedicated academic and scientist whose work connects biochemistry, education, human health, and environmental research. Through her teaching, research publications, and professional engagements, she continues to build a career centred on learning, scientific inquiry, and the development of knowledge that can benefit society.
