About me

I am a biologist and a Master’s candidate in Paleontology at the Universidad Austral de Chile. Educated within the public-rural school system, I graduated with highest honors in Biology. Currently, I am an ANID scholarship recipient researching the morphology and biomechanics of ichthyosaurs from Chilean Patagonia. My background encompasses fieldwork, scientific internships, participation in international conferences and educational outreach.

In addition, I am an educator and science communicator with experience teaching students who are gifted and twice-exceptional. I recently led a project to promote awareness of paleontological heritage in Magallanes (Chile) and I work to bring science closer to educational communities. My career path integrates research, education, and a commitment to the local region, aiming to inspire new generations and expand access to scientific knowledge.

I am a 25 year old Chilean scientist, a biologist and a Master’s candidate in Paleontology at the Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh). I come from a public-rural school background and have built a career that integrates scientific research, education, divulgation and a commitment to Chile’s natural heritage.

I graduated with a degree in Biology, earning highest honors and the top grade point average of my cohort. Currently, I am an ANID scholarship recipient conducting research on the morphology and biomechanics of ichthyosaur fins (extinct marine reptiles) using fossils from Chilean Patagonia and international collections. My experience includes fieldwork at sites such as the Tyndall Glacier in Magallanes, as well as scientific internships at INACH and the Stuttgart Museum of Natural History. I also regularly present at national and international conferences. In 2024, I received the Ernesto Pérez d’Angelo Award for the best undergraduate poster at the 3rd Chilean Paleontology Congress.

Alongside my research, I have been active in education and science divulgation. I work as an instructor for the ALTA UACh Program (an academic enrichment school), where I was also a student for seven years. I have designed paleontology based educational experiences for children and adolescents (including students with high intellectual ability and twice-exceptionality). In 2025, I won the Proyecta Ciencia of my University grant to develop the project "Between Ice, Land, and Sea: Fossil Stories of Magallanes”, an initiative that brought paleontological research and natural heritage closer to communities in Chile’s far south.

I also currently participate in community engagement activities for the UACh Faculty of Science, fostering dialogue between the university, educational institutions, and local communities. I believe my journey reflects the commitment of a new generation of female scientists who seek not only to generate knowledge but also to democratize access to it, strengthen regional identity and inspire new scientific vocations.
