About me
Nwaiwu Juan Chinatu, PhD is an agricultural extensionist by training. She has been carrying out researches on adoption of innovations, women and youth development in Nigeria since 2011, she earned her PhD in agricultural extension and has gained an advanced training on modern breeding and cultivation of vegetables on a collaborative study between the Chinese ministry of science and technology and Chinese academy of agricultural science Beijing (CAAS) at Institute of Vegetables and Flowers Beijing Campus China . Currently she features as a professor, academic/researcher, playing mentorship roles to university students, Nigerian youths, teenagers, young girls, women, as well as engaging and encouraging rural farmers through the dissemination of agricultural innovations , awareness creation and sharing of viable seeds and stems across Nigeria in championing rural and community development through Women in Agriculture program ( WIA ) and education sectors. She is a member of the European centre for research, training, and development in UK focusing on possible and easy solutions on how to deploy business idea as well as the relevant technology to targeted African communities.
Moves to develop the rural communities through the empowerment of women and youth must be vastly encouraged , especially in this era of agricultural transformation and food insecurity is the passion and goal of Prof Nwaiwu .
Dr . Nwaiwu is Board Of Trustee member (BOT) Imo Network Group (ING), a non-Governmental organization that empowers and take care of women, youths and the less privilege in the society, Associate fellow, Nigerian Institute Of Industrial Administration Abuja ; member, National Association of Women Academics, president women home and abroad cooperative society Umunumo, Imo State Nigeria, Women leader AGC women ministry Owerri east district, Imo state. She has also contributed immensely to women healthcare delivery and education which led to the conferment of medical leadership award and educational leadership award by Nigeria Institute of Industrial Administration Abuja (NIIA ) Abuja Nigeria.
Prof . Nwaiwu is the chairperson of the curriculum drafting committee of the faculty of agriculture and Veterinary medicine, Imo State University Owerri (IMSU) as well as a senior academic researcher and lecturer in the department of agricultural extension and rural development, IMSU, Owerri, moreover, she is a selected researcher and beneficiary in the International Training Workshop on Development and Utilization of Energy Oil Plant Resources of Hunan Academy of Forestry Changsha, China, and has led plenary session on agriculture and food security conference held at Murray Edwards College, Cambridge University, Cambridge UK. She has also attended and presented papers at international Conferences such as; 2nd global summit on plant sciences held at London UK, joint International Annual Conference of Agronomy Society of America(ASA), Crop Science Society of America (CSSA), and Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) held at Henry B.Gonzalez convention centre and Hilton palacio Dei Riio hotel San Antonio, Texas USA. She has also published so many journals on Adoption of innovation , Arable crops , Women, Youths and Rural development.
