About me

I am Lina Friberg Njau, a female scientist employed as an assistant lecture in Hydrology at the Water Institute - Tanzania. I hold a Master's in Water and Sustainable Development in the field of Water Resources Engineering and Ecosystem health from IHE - Delft Institute for Water Education after winning the MENA and Horn of Africa Scholarship award. A bachelor's in Irrigation and Water Resources Engineering from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). I have developed research interests in extreme environmental conditions, climate change, water quality, policy, and trans-boundary diplomacy.
I have been actively involved in teaching undergraduate courses in hydrology, lecturing master's students in hydro-logical modelling, and supervising student research projects. In addition to that, I also conduct departmental research projects, consultancy, and attend as well as panel conferences and workshops.
I also engage in community outreach projects in the water sector, organized by the Ministry of Water and the Ministry of Agriculture, to promote integrated water resources and environmental conservation.

Lina Friberg Njau is a dedicated and passionate engineer, hydrologist, and environmental advocate with a profound commitment to sustainable water resource management. Her journey into the field of hydrology began with an innate curiosity about water ecosystems and their critical role in environmental health. This interest evolved into a specialized focus on eco-hydrology, where she aims to harmonize human needs with natural processes. From early on, Lina demonstrated a strong aptitude for environmental science, which she pursued academically and professionally. She gained a solid understanding of environmental conservation principles and became adept at analyzing climatic extreme events. Her keen insights into the impacts of these events have driven her to explore effective mitigation strategies. Lina's primary focus lies in nature-based solutions that offer dual benefits: they not only contribute to climate conservation but also help reduce disaster risks while addressing the ecological need for water. She believes in leveraging the power of nature to address pressing environmental challenges, particularly in a time when climate change is reshaping landscapes and communities. Her skills extend to the collection, compilation, processing, and interpretation of both in situ and satellite hydrological data. Through her technical expertise, she enhances the understanding of water dynamics and advocates for informed decision-making in water management practices. Lina is known for her enthusiasm and proactive approach to learning. She quickly adapts to new tasks and challenges, always approaching her responsibilities with a strong sense of commitment and professionalism. With her unique blend of technical knowledge and a heartfelt dedication to environmental conservation, Lina Friberg Njau is poised to make meaningful contributions to the field of hydrology and the ongoing efforts towards sustainable water resource management.
