About me

I´m currently pursuing my PhD at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. My research focuses on the Coipasa Salt Flat Basin in Bolivia, part of South America’s Lithium Triangle. I study the hydrogeochemical processes controlling the occurrence and distribution of arsenic (As), boron (B), lithium (Li), and other geogenic trace elements in groundwater and surface waters. By investigating volcanic, hydrothermal, groundwater, wetland, and saline environments, my work seeks to understand the sources, mobilization, transport, and redistribution of these elements, while establishing a better understanding of natural groundwater variability to support sustainable water-resource management in a region of growing interest in lithium resources.

I am a Bolivian PhD researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA), Bolivia, within the Sida-Bolivia doctoral programme. I hold degrees in Chemical Sciences and postgraduate training in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems applied to Earth Sciences. My research career has focused on water quality, hydrochemistry, environmental chemistry, and naturally occurring contaminants in groundwater.
My current doctoral research focuses on the Coipasa Salt Flat Basin in the Bolivian Altiplano, part of South America’s Lithium Triangle. I investigate the hydrogeochemical processes controlling the occurrence, mobilization, transport, and spatial distribution of arsenic (As), boron (B), lithium (Li), and other geogenic trace elements in groundwater and surface waters. My work integrates field investigations, laboratory chemical analyses, hydrogeological interpretation, geochemical approaches, and spatial analysis to understand the interactions between volcanic, hydrothermal, groundwater, wetland, and saline environments.
With more than a decade of research experience in Bolivia, I have contributed to projects addressing natural arsenic occurrence, groundwater quality, hydrochemical characterization, environmental contamination, and water-treatment technologies. I have presented my research at international conferences.
