About me
M. Elisa González is a Guatemalan ornithologist and a graduate student at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala in Guatemala City. During her undergraduate studies, she participated in an independent research project using radio telemetry and stable isotope analyses to characterize the roosting habitat and diet preferences of White-throated Sparrows on the wintering grounds in Arkansas, USA. González's goal is to continue researching birds, pursue her studies as a Ph.D. student in the future, and teach future generations about the importance of wildlife conservation.
M. Elisa González was born in Guatemala, and raised in Quetzaltenango. Since she was a child, she always was interested in Animals and Nature. In 2020, she achieved her dream of studying biology at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, thanks to the Walton International Scholarship (WISP). During her undergraduate studies, she had the opportunity of being part of Dr. Ruhl's research team and study White-throated Sparrow's roosting behavior and diet for two years. After González was awarded with her undergraduate degree, she returned to Guatemala and decided to start her journey to become an Ornithologist.
M. Elisa González is currently a graduate student of the Environmental Management and Sustainability Master's program at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, where she conducts research in difference of bird species in forest and peach plantations. Her goal is to continue researching birds, pursue her studies as a Ph.D. student in the future, and teach future generations about the importance of wildlife conservation.
