About me
Mercedes Yudith Ortega López is a Mexican Materials Science PhD, scientist, entrepreneur and science communicator pioneering the connection between materials science, genetics, epigenetics and sustainable biotechnology. She is the founder and CEO of IDINAT LAB INTERNATIONAL GROUP, where she leads science-based innovation in personalized health, nutrigenomics, microbiome science, sustainable cosmetics and circular economy. Her work transforms advanced research into real-world solutions for health, longevity, sustainability and social impact, while promoting women’s leadership in STEM across Mexico and Latin America.
Mercedes Yudith Ortega López is a Mexican scientist, entrepreneur, professor and science communicator from Chihuahua, Mexico. She holds a PhD and a Master of Science from Centro de Investigación en Materiales Avanzados (CIMAV), with a strong academic background in Materials Science, engineering, biotechnology, nanotechnology and applied research.
She is the founder and CEO of IDINAT LAB INTERNATIONAL GROUP, a science-based company focused on connecting materials science, genetics, epigenetics, nutrigenomics, microbiome science, sustainable biotechnology, personalized health, cosmetic science and circular economy. Through IDINAT, she leads research, development and innovation projects aimed at transforming scientific knowledge into real-world solutions for health, wellness, longevity, sustainability and social impact.
Her work includes the development of personalized health technologies, functional ingredients, bioactive compounds, sustainable cosmetics and biotechnology-based solutions. She has also led projects focused on the valorization of agro-industrial residues, transforming them into high-value bioactives for the cosmetic, nutraceutical and wellness industries under a zero-waste approach.
Her research and innovation interests include regenerative and cellular longevity, precision nutraceuticals, microbiome health, maternal and child nutrition, neurocognitive wellness, sustainable materials, circular economy and the use of science and technology to improve quality of life. She also promotes science education, STEM participation and women’s leadership in science, technology and entrepreneurship.
Mercedes Yudith has participated as a speaker, mentor, professor and science communicator in academic, entrepreneurial and social impact spaces. She is committed to making science more accessible, useful and transformative, especially for women, young people and communities in Mexico and Latin America.
Throughout her career, she has received several recognitions for her contributions to science, entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability and women’s leadership. Her mission is to convert science into sustainable and applicable solutions that improve human health, strengthen communities and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable future.
