I am Nadeesha Dilani Hettige, a Senior Scientist at NARA with over 14 years of experience in marine and freshwater ecosystem research. I hold a Ph.D. in Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, and my work focuses on aquatic ecology, bioindicators, plankton, water quality, and marine pollution. I have contributed to many national projects, published in indexed journals, and served as a reviewer and committee member in several scientific platforms. I am committed to protecting aquatic environments and supporting sustainable resource management.
I am Nadeesha Dilani Hettige, a Senior Scientist at the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), Sri Lanka, with over 14 years of research experience in marine and freshwater ecosystems. My academic background includes a Ph.D. in Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems from Universiti Putra Malaysia, an MSc in Environmental Science, and a First Class BSc in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management.
My research focuses on aquatic ecology, including benthic macroinvertebrates, bioindicators, plankton dynamics, ecological and statistical modelling, water quality management, marine litter, and blue carbon. I have contributed to numerous national and international research projects, coastal and lagoon assessments, and marine pollution investigations, while publishing widely in indexed journals and conference proceedings.
I also serve as a scientific reviewer for international journals and conferences, and I actively contribute to scientific bodies such as SLAAS and SLAFAR. In addition, I engage in university teaching, stakeholder training, and capacity-building programs. I am committed to advancing aquatic environmental conservation, sustainable resource management, and evidence-based environmental decision-making.
