About me
I currently work as a professor of environmental biotechnology and environmental remediation at the Processes Development Department, Petroleum Biotechnology Lab, Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (EPRI). Her research interest is environmental & biotechnological remediation of biofouling and biocorrosion and their environmental risk analysis and management.
• Nesreen A. Fatthallah Amer currently works as a professor (2024 up to date) at the Processes Development Department, Petroleum Biotechnology Lab, Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (joined EPRI from 1993 up to date), Cairo, Egypt.
• She has 30 years of experience in EPRI:
>> 10 years (1993-2003) of experience as a biologist in Petrochemicals Department, EPRI, Cairo, Egypt;
>> 6 years (2003-2009) as an assistant researcher;
>> 8 years (2009-2018) as a researcher in Petroleum Biotechnology Lab, Processes Development Department, EPRI, Cairo, Egypt;
>> and 3 years (2018 up to date) as an associate professor in Petroleum Biotechnology Lab, Processes Development Department, EPRI, Cairo, Egypt.
• Nesreen joined three research projects:
1- A Co-PI in "Novel Lightweight Superhydrophobic Bio-inspired Silicone/Graphene Nanocomposites for Ecofriendly Maritime Antifouling Coatings" funded by STDF (2023).

• She shared as a main supervisor in four theses:
1- One M.Sc. thesis awarded in 2013,
2- Two Ph.D. theses awarded in 2017 and 2019, respectively, and
3- One Ph.D. thesis started in 2023 (in progress).
• Nesreen attended different workshops, training courses, and conferences in Egypt (2012-2022) with some research articles and posters. She had also been awarded two diplomas: 1- "Analytical Techniques in Purification of Biomolecules, Excellent 95%" and 2- "Environmental Management, Excellent 93%."
• She shared as a training staff member:
1- In summer courses for undergraduate students from different scientific colleges (2010-2019, and
2- For EPRI researchers (2021) (Mendeley Advisor Community).
• Nesreen is a certified peer reviewer from different reviewer academies [Wiley Reviewer Academy, Elsevier Researchers Academy, Publons/Web of Science Academy, and American Chemical Society (ACS Reviewer Lab)] and shared as a reviewer for various scientific journals and publishers.
• She is a member in Entrepreneur Club at Cairo university (ECCU), and also joined several international scientific committees [Such as Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC); American Chemical Society (ACS); NACE International/ AMPP Association for Materials Protection and Performance; American Society for Microbiology (ASM); Diamond Light Source: UK's National Synchrotron Science Facilities; SESAME Science Portal; Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste; National and International Organizations for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD); Egyptian Corrosion Society; The Arab Society of Molecular Engineering and Biotechnology, Biotechnology Association- Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (arabiotech/ fasrc); and Egyptian Society of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology (ESAMNT)].
