Nyimale Grace Alawa, PhD, is a distinguished expert in ecology, environmental biology, and conservation. Her extensive academic background, highlighted by a PhD from Rivers State University, includes groundbreaking research on biodiversity dynamics published in leading scientific journals.
Environmental biologist and senior conservation specialist with 14+ years of professional experience in biodiversity management, ecological assessments, institutional engagement, and large-scale community-based conservation initiatives. Dr. Alawa has led multi-state biodiversity projects, coordinated donor-funded conservation programmes, and conducted institutional capacity assessments involving government agencies, Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities (IPLCs), and environmental organizations. Her work spans biodiversity field surveys, ecological data analysis, project management, gender-inclusiveness, community governance, stakeholder consultations, and monitoring & evaluation (M&E). She has collaborated with international donors, conservation NGOs and research institutes across Nigeria and beyond. She is an experienced lecturer, researcher, project coordinator and policy advocate, delivering high-level technical reports, conservation planning, and participatory frameworks aligned with global biodiversity standards.
