About me

Dr. Emeka-Obi Obioma Raluchukwu is a Nigerian haematologist, medical laboratory scientist, and university lecturer dedicated to advancing medical science, clinical diagnostics, and health education. She holds a PhD in Haematology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University and lectures at the Federal University of Technology Owerri, where she teaches haematology, immunology, and medical biochemistry while mentoring clinical students.

Her research focuses on haematological disorders, iron metabolism, infectious diseases, pregnancy-related haematological changes, and noncommunicable diseases. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international scientific conferences, including OWSD and HBTSSN.

Beyond academia, Dr. Raluchukwu is committed to community health. She has served as a two-time volunteer in Pro-Health International free medical outreaches, and has supported multiple community-driven medical missions and charity programmes. She is also the CEO of OC Medical Laboratory, where she promotes quality diagnostics and patient-centered care.

Biography – Dr. Emeka-Obi Obioma Raluchukwu

Dr. Emeka-Obi Obioma Raluchukwu is a Nigerian haematologist, biomedical researcher, academic, and clinical laboratory professional dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge, improving diagnostic services, and mentoring the next generation of health scientists. She holds a PhD in Haematology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University and currently serves as a Lecturer I at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), where she teaches haematology and blood transfusion science to clinical-level medical and allied health students.

With over a decade of experience in laboratory practice, research, and academic instruction, Dr. Raluchukwu has built a strong interdisciplinary career spanning clinical haematology, immunology, disease biomarkers, transfusion science, nutritional haematology, and women’s health. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on haematological alterations in conditions such as preeclampsia, chronic diseases, malaria, HIV, and metabolic disorders. Her current research interests focus on iron metabolism, haemostatic variables, inflammatory markers, and molecular–haematological correlates of disease in African populations.

In addition to her academic role, she is the Chief Executive Officer of OC Medical Laboratory in Owerri, where she oversees diagnostic services, quality assurance, laboratory operations, and patient-focused care. She has also served in important leadership capacities, including Acting Head of the Department of Nursing Science at Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University (KOMU), where she contributed to curriculum development, departmental administration, and academic mentorship.

Dr. Raluchukwu is a committed community health advocate and actively engages in public health outreach. She has served as a volunteer Medical Laboratory Scientist in the Free Medical Outreach organized by Pro-Health International twice, providing essential diagnostic services to underserved communities across Imo State. She also supports several church-based and community medical missions, sponsors annual medical outreaches, and leads charity initiatives focused on healthcare access and poverty alleviation.

Her numerous awards include Best Post-Graduating Student in Haematology (IMSU), Best Graduating Student in Biology and Mathematics (Nwafor Orizu College of Education), and multiple recognitions for academic excellence. She has presented scientific papers at national and international conferences, including OWSD, the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Scientists Society of Nigeria (HBTSSN), and the Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors.

Dr. Raluchukwu is a member of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (AMLSN), the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Scientists Society of Nigeria, and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). She remains deeply committed to teaching, research, women’s empowerment in STEM, and strengthening healthcare systems in Nigeria through innovation, evidence-based practice, and community service.
