Olajoke Balogun is a PhD researcher in Crop Science specializing in Plant Breeding and Seed Science at Obafemi Awolowo University. Her research focuses on climate-resilient crop development, maize improvement for stress tolerance, and sustainable quality seed production of African eggplant (Solanum macrocarpon L.).

Olajoke Balogun is a PhD researcher in Crop Science at Obafemi Awolowo University, with specialization in Plant Breeding and Seed Science. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy and a Master’s degree in Plant Science, with a strong focus on plant breeding and Seed Science. Her academic training and research experience are centered on the development and evaluation of climate-resilient crop varieties, with emphasis on phenotypic screening, stress tolerance, and sustainable seed production systems.

Her research work includes maize improvement for tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses, screening of extra-early and early maize varieties under tropical rainforest conditions, and sustainable quality seed production of African eggplant (Solanum macrocarpon L.). She has gained experience in field experimentation, data analysis, and applied agricultural research aimed at improving crop productivity and food security. Through her work, she contributes to advancing climate-smart agriculture and sustainable seed systems in tropical environments.
