About me

Prof. Dr. Abeer M. Abdalhamed is a Professor of Infectious and Zoonotic Diseases at the National Research Centre (NRC), Egypt, with more than 20 years of experience in veterinary infectious diseases, zoonoses, molecular diagnostics, microbiology, and antimicrobial resistance. She earned her Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences from the National Research Centre and has established an internationally recognized research program focused on the diagnosis, prevention, and control of infectious diseases affecting both animals and humans within the One Health framework.

Her research focuses on emerging and re-emerging zoonotic pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, molecular epidemiology, rapid point-of-care diagnostics, and nanotechnology-based diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. She has led and contributed to numerous nationally funded research projects addressing multidrug-resistant bacteria, foodborne pathogens, animal viral diseases, and innovative nanoparticle applications for disease diagnosis and treatment.

Prof. Abdalhamed has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in international journals covering molecular diagnostics, mastitis pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, toxoplasmosis, foot-and-mouth disease, lumpy skin disease, and nanobiotechnology. Her recent work includes the development of rapid field-deployable diagnostic assays and nanoparticle-based strategies for controlling infectious diseases.

She serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several international journals and is an active member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the World Society for Virology (WSV), and the Council of Asian Science Editors (CASE). She is also committed to mentoring young researchers, delivering molecular biology training programs, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration in veterinary and public health research.

Her long-term research goal is to develop innovative molecular and nanotechnology-based solutions that strengthen infectious disease surveillance, improve animal health, enhance food safety, and advance global One Health initiatives.

Prof. Dr. Abeer M.
