About me
I am a Mexican conservation ecologist, currently a postdoctoral researcher at UC Berkeley, committed to the preservation and restoration of tropical ecosystems. My research seeks to understand the multiple interconnected effects of habitat loss and agricultural expansion on biodiversity, their long-term consequences on ecological processes, as well as finding solutions where both humans and nature can thrive. My three main research projects have taken place in fragmented landscapes in three tropical countries (Mexico, Madagascar, and Colombia), and have been supported through national and international grants, collaborations with rural communities, local scientists, and NGOs. Beyond academia, I have led and supported various habitat conservation and restoration initiatives both in Mexico and the U.S.
