About me

Dr. Sarah Hamdy is an assistant professor in the hydrobiology lab at the Marine Environment Division of the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Egypt. My research focuses on marine macroalgae ecology, seaweed diversity, and the environmental factors influencing their distribution in the Red Sea. My scientific interests include the effects of temperature and climate change on seaweed growth, abundance, and physiological responses. I also studied the ecological role of seaweeds in marine ecosystems, including their potential for carbon sequestration and their applications in sustainable marine resources. I have published several scientific papers in marine biology and phycology and contribute to collaborative research related to marine biodiversity and environmental monitoring. My work also explores the potential for seaweed cultivation in the Red Sea as a sustainable approach to support future blue economy initiatives in Egypt.
