About me

Sophia Vivian ADEYEYE, PhD, CLN, is a dedicated Library and Information Science Educator with a strong commitment to education and training. I promote LIS through advocacy in LIS Pedagogy, school librarianship, mentoring, and collaboration. I actively engage in initiatives that empower students, educators, and communities through participation in both Local, national, and international associations. My focus on school librarianship includes fostering a reading culture, integrating technology in learning, and ensuring that school libraries serve as dynamic learning hubs because well-resourced and well-managed libraries are key to lifelong learning.
I strive to bridge information gaps and promote the vital role of librarians in shaping informed and literate societies.

Sophia Vivian Adeyeye is a lecturer at the and the Head of Department at the Department of Information Management, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, Lead City University, Ibadan. Before joining the Department of Library, Archival and Information Science, she completed a PhD from the Department of School Library and Media Technology, University of Ibadan, got a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Department of Library and Information Studies, and a Ph.D. from the Department of School Library and Media Technology, University of Ibadan.
Her research interests fall into the following areas: Bibliotherapy, Innovation and Creativity in School Libraries, Indigenous knowledge, and Research Data Management. These interests have found expression through some of her journal publications and book chapter contributions. She also presents her work at local and international conferences.
She has taught in Oyo State Post Primary Schools for 25 years and is deeply passionate about imparting children. This she does through her Non-Governmental Organisation- Books Heal Initiative
She is the chairperson of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Oyo State Chapter, an elected committee member, International Federation of Library Association and Institutions (IFLA) Section on Education and Training (2021-2027). Dr. Adeyeye is the Regional Director, Africa for the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) (2023 -2026), a member of the Nigeria School Library Association (NSLA), the International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology (IASSIST), and a Fellow of the National Institute of Office Administration and Information Managers (NIOAIM)
