Dr Temitope Okunola

About me

Dr Temitope Okunola is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. She holds MB; BS degree from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria and MPH degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. She is a Commonwealth PhD Scholar in Population Health Sciences. She is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. She was a Visiting Scholar at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee, USA, where she had sub-speciality training in Urogynaecology and Female Pelvic Reconstruction Surgery in 2019.
Dr Okunola also serves as the Attending Gynaecologist at the Ekiti Sexual Assault Referral Centre (Moremi Clinic), Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, where prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted infections is one of her major roles. Her major research interests include Violence against Women, adolescent and young people’s reproductive health. She has experience in clinical trials as she was the principal investigator for the research project “Erythromycin versus Amoxicillin for treatment of antenatal Chlamydia infection: a randomised controlled trial”. She is a grant award winner, a principal investigator for Year 2023(Merged) Tetfund Intervention Research Project titled “The role of elevated salivary cortisol in the association between intimate partner violence during pregnancy and adverse pregnancy outcomes. She is married with children.
