About me

I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria, emerging among the best students in my cohort with a CGPA of 4.32/5.0 and research experience in phytochemical analysis and antifungal of Citrus sinensis Seed Extracts against Penicillium spp. and Aspergillus flavus. I did my internship at the International Center for Ethnomedicine and Drug Development (InterCEED), Nsukka , Enugu State where I participated in production of Moringa oleifera tea. During my work experience as an assistant Laboratory technician at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, I support senior laboratory staff in conducting experiments and practical sessions for undergraduate students. I developed additional skills in Data Analysis by taking online Coursera data analysis course and a physical training at CodeLab Educare Abuja, gaining experience in Microsoft Excel, SQL and Power BI which support my ability to interpret raw data effectively. My research interests focus on food microbiology, microbial ecology and molecular biology with a strong commitment to advancing sustainable solutions in food safety and biological sciences

My name is Ujunwa Maryrose Eya, a graduate of Biological Sciences from Federal University Lokoja Kogi State Nigeria emerging among the best student in my cohort with a CGPA of 4.32/5.0. I have passion for scientific research, food science, microbiology and data driven problems. My undergraduate research thesis titled Preliminary Phytochemical Analysis and Antifungal Activity of Citrus sinensis Seed Extracts against Penicillium spp. and Aspergillus flavus explored the antimicrobial potential of plant derived compounds. I did my internship at the International Center For Ethnomedicine and Drug Development where i participated in the production of Moringa oleifera tea, and production of coconut oil. From 2022 - 31 December 2025, I have worked as a Laboratory assistant in the Biotechnology Laboratory Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka where i have gained laboratory experience including equipment sterilization, documentation of experimental procedure and maintaining laboratory safety standards. In addition to my academic background and work experiences I took professional online Data Analysis course on Coursera which I later furthered the training at CodeLab Educare Abuja acquiring skills in Microsoft Excel, SQL and Power BI helping me to gain experience in working remotely, collecting data , analyzing and visualizing data to generate insight and support decision making. During my National Youth Service corps year at St. John of God Secondary School Awka where I served as Biology Teacher delivered biology lessons and supervised laboratory practical sessions for JSS 3 junior students. With my desire and curiosity to contribute to scientific advancement, i aspire to pursue advance studies through funded MSc or PhD opportunities to contribute to research, innovation and sustainable solutions that address real world challenges in food science and health.
