
About me
Dr. Solange Uwingabire is a Rwandese scholar and practitioner in forest and agroforestry sciences. She holds a PhD in Forest and Agroforestry Sciences (2024), an MSc in Soil Science and Land Management (2016), and a Bachelor’s degree in Soil Science and Environmental Management (2012).
She is a permanent lecturer at the University of Technology and Arts of Byumba (UTAB) and serves as General Secretary of the African Organization of Technology in Agriculture (AOTA). She has taught at the University of Rwanda and worked as a research assistant and consultant on soil and land management projects across Rwanda.
Her research focuses on agroforestry, soil fertility, biochar applications, carbon dynamics, and integrated food–energy systems. Recent projects include studies on pedological indicators as predictors of tree biomass and farmer-managed biochar trials for French bean production.
Dr. Uwingabire is an active member of professional networks including the International Biochar Initiative (IBI), African Forest Forum (AFF), Rwanda Women in Science Forum (RAWISE), and OWSD. She regularly presents at regional and international conferences and contributes to policy and technical reports.
