I’m Dr. Olusan Busayo Moriyike, a Plant Physiologist and Biochemist specializing in the micropropagation, stress physiology, and bioactive profiling of indigenous leafy vegetables, with a primary focus on Clerodendrum volubile.

I’m Dr. Olusan Busayo Moriyike, a Plant Physiologist and Biochemist. My academic journey began with a degree in Botany, which laid the foundation for my M.Sc. and Ph.D. research focusing on the physiological, biochemical, and biotechnological aspects of medicinal flora, particularly Clerodendrum volubile. During my master’s program, I investigated how water stress affects plant survival mechanisms and phytochemical production. I expanded on this during my Ph.D. by developing in vitro regeneration protocols, evaluating the genetic fidelity of micropropagated plantlets, and comparing the bioactive compound profiles of tissue-cultured callus to those of the mother plant. Overall, my work bridges plant tissue culture, molecular integrity, and secondary metabolite extraction to support sustainable propagation and pharmacological research.
