About me

Dr. Luisa Maria Diele-Viegas is a transdisciplinary ecologist and currently the chair of the Brazilian chapter of OWSD, chair of the Brazilian Association of Ecological Science and Conservation, and Council member of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology. She is a member of the Global Young Academy and a Young Affiliate of The World Academy of Sciences. She leads the Laboratory of (Bio)Diversity in the Anthropocene, a decentralized lab focused on bridging traditional and scientific knowledge to develop solutions for environmental problems.

Dr Luisa Maria Diele-Viegas is a transdisciplinary scientist holding a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution. She focuses on bridging traditional and scientific knowledge to develop solutions for environmental problems. She leads the Laboratory of (Bio)Diversity in the Anthropocene, a decentralized lab focused on evaluating the impacts of human activities on natural and human systems; science governance and diplomacy; and ethnobiology. She is currently the chair of the Brazilian chapter of OWSD, chair of the Brazilian Association of Ecological Science and Conservation, and Council member of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology. She is a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA) and a Young Affiliate of The World Academy of Sciences. At GYA, she co-leads the Committee on Advancing Equity and Anti-Discrimination (CAEA) and coordinates the Science and Research Ecosystem group.
