About me

Dr. Opeyemi A. Oyewo obtained her master's and PhD in Chemical Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa. The most significant contribution of her research is on water and wastewater treatment using green nanomaterials. Dr Opeyemi is an author and co-author of over 70 research articles, book chapters and conference proceedings in reputable scientific Journals. She was able to supervise/co-supervise 28 B. Tech students, 9 master students and 4 PhD students, of which 37 have graduated and 4 are still pursuing their qualifications. She is a recognized reviewer for some reputable journals and research funding organizations. She is also a member of the UKRI International Development Peer Review College. She is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of South Africa at the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, University of South Africa. Dr Oyewo is an NRF-rated researcher and has also received some local and international recognitions and awards.
Dr Oyewo has conducted research studies in interdisciplinary fields ranging from Chemical Engineering to Materials Science, organic and inorganic Chemistry. Dr Oyewo’s primary and secondary research areas are as follows:
• Synthesis and application of environmentally friendly nanoparticles, nanocomposites and their applications in water treatment using adsorption, coagulation, photocatalysis processes and membrane technology.
• Extraction of cellulose from biomass and its transformation into efficient water treatment products.
• Fabrication of ultra-filtration and ceramic membrane and their application in water treatment
