Current profession

Current professional activities type:
Research
Lignin-related compounds are recalcitrant and contribute to environmental hazards most especially in the developing nations like Nigeria. Globally, there is a shift towards environmental – friendly and sustainable biotechnological and industrial processes, including renewable energy potentials, which could be harnessed through the bioconversion of lignocellulose wastes. The use of excessive high temperature during burning and most chemical methods for the pre-treatment of lignocellulose wastes ultimately lead to environmental degradation with implications on human health. Hence, my research has focused on the use of biological treatment methods in the pre-treatment of lignin and its related aromatic compounds as well as bioconversion of lignocellulose wastes. This appear to be a better choice because of its environmental friendliness; with the ultimate goal to maintain a cleaner environment and also keep the cost of industrial raw materials low; thereby bridging the gap between the “town and gown” .
